On Saturday, June 22, 2002, the RRWA sponsored a float trip down the Red River. The group of 11 canoes floated from The Red River Valley Canoe Rental to Port Royal State Park.
The day was wonderful and the scenery was spectacular!  This leisurely float was the first of several canoe trips planned by the RRWA on the Red and its navigable tributaries.  Future floats will include river education, nature observation, and litter clean-ups.
The Red is a beautiful river to enjoy, but it is not without its problems. Along the way excessive bank erosion, illegal dumping, and livestock contamination were observed. 

 The RRWA hopes to address these issues through education and assistance programs. It is our goal to,

“Support the Red River Watershed so it can support YOU.”
