
On Saturday
September 27, 2003, the Red River Watershed
Association (RRWA) and Austin Peay State Universitys Center of Excellence For
Field Biology presented the Green Agricultural and
Landowner Practices For Watershed Management Exposition.
This,
first of its kind, free educational expo introduced techniques, technologies and programs that farmers and
landowners can use to enhance water quality and quantity.
Members of the farming community, students, and general public attended.
The
event featured presentations on topics ranging from planting trees to
protect waterways and decrease residential water pollution to pasture
management, discovering springs, and more.
The exhibit hall featured program information from
area non-profits, and state and local government agency agencies, as well as
products from corporate vendors.
During
the the expo, the RRWA debuted its first educational video designed to
demonstrate "best management practices (BMPs) for watershed
protection. The video highlighted sinkhole and streambank restoration
demonstration projects that have been implemented in the Red River Watershed.
Lunch
was catered by the Tri-Beta Club of Austin Peay.
The
RRWA plans to continue the Green Agricultural and
Landowner Practices For Watershed Management Exposition as an annual event!
