Red River Watershed Association Had Its 5^th Annual Canoe Float Trip Fundraiser on the Red River!

On Saturday, July 8^th, RRWA friends and members celebrated a successful 5^th Annual Canoe Trip on the Red. Thirty two participants (from novice canoeists to experts and everyone in-between) canoed a stretch of the Red River upstream of Adams and took out at the Red River Valley Park of Tennessee (RRVP). The conditions were perfect! The weather was sunny and warm and the rainfall earlier in the week made for a fairly effortless float that took approximately 3 hrs.

Wildlife enthusiasts in the group observed a variety of local birds, including kingfishers, map turtles, water snakes, and summer wildflowers along the river banks.

Following the float, attendees enjoyed a delicious barbeque lunch and down-home bluegrass music provided by the RRVP’s own Heathcock brothers.
